Official says limited risk of 2nd virus wave price rise exists

MOSCOW, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- Prices have stabilized, and the risks of a surge during a possible second wave of the epidemic exist but can it be restricted, Andrei Tenishev, head of the anti-cartel department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, told PRIME in an interview published on Friday.

"The situation with prices has stabilized, there are almost no complaints about prices. Concerning the second wave, there are some risks, but I would not overstate them, we are able to cap them," Tenishev said.

He said that the people had a chance to see that goods did not disappear during the first wave.

"They bought food for several months ahead and then food got cheaper, lied on the shelves, nobody bought it at that cheaper price because they had stocked on everything. I hope that people will learn from the experience of the first wave and will not go berserk with the purchases as they did last time," he said.
